As a step towards creating the future bi+ umbrella organisation, Bi+ Equal governance team has been researching the governance structures of established European LGBTIQA+ organisations, specifically EL*C, ILGA-Europe, IGLYO, and TGEU, consulting with a Pool of Governance Consultants and proposing the structure in a constitution to the Founding General Meeting.
At Bi+ Equal, we believe good governance is shared power and clear accountability. We want to build the foundations of a structure that’s democratic, inclusive, and representative of the vibrant bi+ community and movement across pan-European countries, responding and advancing in the fast-paced changing world.
Governance might sound a bit dry, but it’s actually pretty exciting: it’s the core of the organisation’s leadership in navigating the world towards our goals, how we decide who decides!
We care for sharing our journey with you, as Bi+ Equal is led by the community for the community! The Comparative Governance Analysis of the four pan-European organisations, incorporating their feedback and adjustments published in July 2025 makes PART I of our final document presented to the Founding General Meeting. Subsequent parts, and the complete document enriched by expert and community consultations, will be available on our website for public review.
We communicate on our progress and proposals regularly. This will culminate in our Founding General Meeting, scheduled to take place in Vilnius from October 20-22, 2025.

After our Comparative Governance Analysis, the Bi+ Equal Governance team reflected and designed the future structure of the entity to be. The designed articles were shared with a Pool of Governance Consultants, who generously shared their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with the team. After readjustments of some points, the Bi+ Equal team, is excited to share the outcomes and suggestions for the Constitution articles to be put to vote in October F-GM.
